Well I don’t hate them much but today specially feeling like throwing my phone out of this window along with my credit card.
Calling their customer service for the 3rd time…
The only message i could hear is “Sorry all our phone banking officers are busy, your call is important to us, please continue to hold the line”
Now also she said this message for the 12th time..
and now..”We apologize for keeping you on hold….please call back later…thank you” well that was the 3rd time in a row…
I lost my net banking password and asked them to renew it and damn they sent me new password by post after waiting for 10 days and what now ? I am still not able to login…
Sucks…customer service is bad according to me…account holders have to wait for such a long time…I tried thrice but still couldn’t talk to any person…..all I could hear was voice message….
So if you are thinking of going for HSBC credit card then don’t expect much from their customer service…they won’t pick the phone even if it is 11.30 in the night…

I totally aggree. HSBC seem to be the most incompetent bank I have ever come accross. I wish I’d never opened my account.
Try Smile.co.uk totaly the opposite to HSBC. Theyr’e friendly, polite and they actually do what you ask them to concerning direct debits and standing orders. Theyre call centre staff are actually in Europe too, so you can understand what they’re saying!!!
I hate HSBC!! I ordered a new credit card on the 5th July, it’s now 12th August and still don’t have it. The 3 cards they’ve sent me have gone to the place they shouldn’t have, not been picked up and destroyed. The courier company has different information to the bank. The staff at the branch are lovely but the call centre staff are somewhere in india and couldn’t give a shit. The branch manager says there’s something wrong with the new IT system as it’s not the first time it’s happened.
I’ve heard of friends (also this happened to me) having their cards stopped and basically they say it’s fraud when no money has disappeared from their account. Basically, because I used to work for their IT I know how it works, they have a thing that if you do too many transactions in a set period a flag goes off and they think you’re either money laundering or fraud has gone on when really all you’re doing is your christmas shopping! They stop your card then expect you to be at home waiting for a new one! It’s ridiculous.
I’d like to start a Hate Campaign against HSBC and their incompetance. Who’s with me? We can send emails forwarding to all our friends and they can forward to all their friends and collect stories of HSBC’s incompetance and then maybe they’ll sit up and notice. What do you say?
I would have 100% with you IF they would have been failed to provide good service all the time but after this incident…I have never faced any problems..infact they have been helpful and understanding when I was not able to pay the bill on due date (because of some technical problem with my bank funds didnt get transfer automatically)

Yup!
HSBC SUCKS!
I financed some furniture through a major outlet store (MOR) and paid off the account about four months ago. Now I get a letter from HSBC telling me that I must call them and ask them not to sell my personal information from my zero balance account to telemarketers…otherwise…anything goes.
I call and they procede to mine personal data from me until they get to my SSN and I won’t budge. They then tell me that they will not cancel my zero balance account, and that they will sell my information unless I give them my SSN. I went through this three times on two different numbers and finally called the furniture store and griped at them. Apparently, they were shocked that their business partner was doing crap like this. I guess they didn’t know who they went to bed with …eh?
Anyway, they say they are going to escalate this to their corporate level and investigate exactly what is going on.
The really stupid thing is…you can call the HSBC C/S phone number and provide an account number and a zip code and make all sorts of happy information requests and account changes automatically. I pointed this out to the floor suprvisor who denied knowledge of this and suggested I write a letter to cancel my zero balance account.
I hung up the phone and scremed at the wall. :o)
Well, anyway…HSBC SUCKS!
I would advise anyone who reads this to consider changing bank accounts. These people are the least competent people I have ever had dealings with and they hold my cash account!
They cut me off incorrectly when I was on Fiji so I had to eat coconuts for three days.
They lost the contracts for my professional studies loan until I begged them to look around carefully for it.
They have not yet payed my defrauded cash back which is only down to their cards being easy to clone.
Luckily I managed to get an internal number from one of the poor kids in India so was able to rant for a clear 10 minutes at some chick in Manchester till she started wimpering. Absolutely refuse to get angry at the staff in India because its surely not their fault that they are undertrained etc but the gypsie slagwagon in Manc got it.
If I have to listen to their shagging awful hold music one more time…
mj
£80 charge for going overdrawn… That’s outrageous, clearly I haven’t got the £80 or I wouldn’t have gone over my limit would I!!!
They clearly need my money – they only made £9 billion profit last year…
HSBC are worse then NTL and BT combined!!!!!
I have never had a good experience whilst dealing with HSBC, they are totally incompitent. The people in the call centres are less then helpful, especially when it comes to spelling names and inputting numbers correctly. For example I have just got of the phone to india after hearing the news that my account does not exist. Great news i thought now those swine can stop hassleing me for payment!!
This is the latest in a long line of problems they have caused me. They sent creditcards to my old address twice ‘by accident’. When they replaced my switch card they issued the wrong pin number (it was for the previous card) they did this 3 times!!!.
oh and they threatened to sue me last time I went into my branch, then said I should get some ‘cash in hand work’ so i could pay them!! oh yeah thanks, promote benefit fraud and illegal earnings. yeah sure ill do all that just for you HSBC!!!
anyway in light of the news from india that my account doesnt exist, I am off to see those swine or better still I will compose a letter explaining there faults.
why does it have to be such hard work!!
I HATE HSBC TOOO!!!! ARGHHHHHHH!!!!! *breathes*
I’m just SOOOOO glad that I’m not the only one!
Today I found out that…..
1. They had stopped my overdraft balance without any notification.
2. they had stopped my direct debit that I was using to pay my credit card with them….left me in the poo…now heavily in debt to them…clever tatic methinks HSBC! One way to get me giving them more of my hard earned cash!
3. After several phone calls and the promise that my overdraft would be reinstated immediately…I found out it hadn’t! AND the department that deals with it is now closed and won’t reopne until after the weekend!!
I’m late paying my rent thanks to HSBC and jall jokes aside, they have left me in some serious poo here.
Deep – a word of warning. I’ve been with HSBC for around 6 happy years…until now. I used to think they were great and would recommended them to so many people. After today….I’m looking at other banks.
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRr @ HSBC
Yup – Totally agrre. Fcuking Useless, incompetent, uncaring, inept, moneygrabbing thieves.
Cant be asred to type what happened as it just goes on and on and on and on……..
I worked for these bastards and all is true. They bully their workers and have no answers for customer inquires i told them where to stick their job.
Love Peter
Oh my, I really wasn’t aware of how naff HSBC was…
I’m currently in Austria studying, and the friendly people at HSBC think that now’s just about the right time not to give me a temporary overdraft extension! How thoughtful.
Another point which has been painfully pointed out to me is how much money HSBC makes/takes from their own customers when abroad: How come it costs 1.75gbp to take my own money out of the bank, when Swedish people (who are, just like us, outside of the Eurozone) can do the same with no fee at all? I’ve been here 3 months now and have paid around 1gbp/day that I’ve been here; yes, that’s nearly €150.
I phoned them up to arrange the extension, which might I say I have managed to get before, and promptly got rid of it within 4 weeks.. They said, we can’t do anything to your account until Jan 06. I asked why, they said they can’t do anything to my account until Jan 06. I said ok, but why? They said…
Oh why and when did HSBC become this piece of useless crap?!
I opened a personal internet baking and in order to transfer money to them from another bank I had to create a security code. The code cannot be created online if you don’t have HSBC ATM, Debit or credit card so the email support told me to call their customer service. Their cs is totally unreachable. I waited for 15 minutes every time I called, even called at 2:30AM and after waiting for 20 minutes they still “experienced heavy calling volume” at bloody 2:30am. Screw you HSBC I’m staying with ING Direct.
I Too think HSBC is CRAP. I dont want to write out my whole story, but it seems they screw all customers alike. I like the idea of forming a website to slam hsbc and let the general public know how jacked they are. DOWN WITH HSBC!!!!!!!!
I have e vhicle with HSBC that is sceduled to be paid off in Feb. 2006. Those MF’s had my vehicle reposed without any motification by saying that I owed them back payments. I have hired a lawyer and plan to sue!!!!
I hate HSBC Direct. I opened a Online Savings Acct. and they took 2 months to set up my account and mailed me 10 different kinds of passwords at different times. I don know what fu*** security they are aiming for. HSBC tries very hard to make your life complicated and miserable. Why dont they keep it simple like ING Direct.
At the end when I was totally pissed with setting up my acct I callled in to close the account and refund the money the fu** manager said that I cannot do any thing untill 6 mo.
HSBC Stinks BIGGGG time.
HSBC Custome Service is PIG SHIT
HSBC Credit Card Stinks worst than Skunk
HSBC Direct is FUCKED UP……don’t fall for 4.25 APY
HSBC Go Die some where
FUCK you HSBC (MF) !!!
HSBC ” WORLD’S FUCKED UP LOCAL BANK” or “FUCKED LOCALLY WORLDWIDE”
:0)
HSBC stands for
Has been Sucking Before Christ
HSBC are evil.
18months ago I asked for help after struggling with a personal loan and credit card debts (the credit card was their fault in the first place). The only suggestion was a managed loan which combines all debts you have with them. NEVER EVER EVER go for this option. The apr is shit, it takes ages to pay off and you can’t get out of it unless they decide you can so you can’t get credit anywhere.
They called me from their call centre in the Phillipines to tell me they were going to charge me an overdraft fee for me going overdrawn. The only reason I got overdrawn was their fault as well!!
If only I could get the funds, I would pay the loan off an immediately close my account with a smile and a kiss my arse!!
Everyone on here is right, I work for the twats and i can tell you that the reason there is so many mistakes is that everyone is chasing unrealistic targets. The work output they require is just ridiculous. Say you have a batch of work and you come up against a problem that might take you a little longer than normal you’ll fall behind on your hourly rate which is tied into your bonus and ultimately if it continually falls below, your job is at risk. So staff are just not dealing wth queries properly as a result. It all boils down to profit margin they are the greediest bank in the world. And i would advise anyone to give them a wide birth.
I totally agree! If you are thinking of doing ANY business with HSBC think it through vry carefully! I wish I would have seen this sight before going into debt with them for the rest of my life!! I own a van I am financing through them and I fell behind in my payments a little bit but, I set up payment arangements and they agreed to them and said that would be no problem at all…Well 4 days later they repoed the van and to top it off continued to take the money out of my bank for the payment arangements. Then sent me a letter telling me I needed to pay the entire amount of the loan or I wouldn’ get it back! Then said oh never mind you can get it back (after adding reposesion fees and ruining my credit) for just $800 (the loan is for $10,000 There is much much more but as soon as this van is paid for I will tell them to screw themselves and never bank there again!
I also have had the misfortune of dealing with these incompetant twats. Basically they have just shut off all my accounts as an old joint account I have went into overdraft, instead of telling me and letting me sort it out, they sent a couple of non-existant letters, then with no notice cut me off, no emails or phone calls not even a note on my internet banking, they are scummy cunts if ever I met one, and I’ve had a phone with Three! To make things worse it took about 12 people on their phoneline and arond 4 hours to even find the problem, they are so stupid they did not even know which account it was! I mean how stupid do you have to be, I cannot believe I trusted them with my cash.
I was only £60 out however they refused to reinstate any account so I could solve the problem, insisting that I pay off the £60 first, easier said than done when they have all your cash! They refused to see any of their wide and varied flaws.
Still atleast I can now change banks and fuck them off all the cash they would have made out of me getting a mortgage, ISA etc with them. Only problem is through their stupidity they have managed to get me a bad credit rating so bad I’ll have to plead with someone else to give me an account.
I can safely say I hate them more than anything in the world, except Three, but that’s another story…
I HATE HSBC!
All their cashiers go home at 3PM, so you have to use the bloody machines. Yesterday I paid in enough to cover a direct debit coming out today, and they refused it for insufficient funds when THEY HAD MY MONEY!
TWATS
Okay, if you go overdrawn it’s clearly your fault isn’t it? so it’s money thats not yours yeah? so surely there gonna charge you? It’s not brain science is it?
The last time I looked HSBC weren’t a charity? I’m sure you didn’t go into things with the naievity that banks are a none profit organisation? hmmmm? poor customer service – yeah thats a pain, however I can’t be arsed with wining people who cry out cuz there in too much debt and it’s all the banks fault!! you can lead a horse to water n that! The institute of financial services run courses for 14 year olds teaching them about money – you lot who blame banks might want to go on it!
i just want ot make cancel my HSBC credit card. because my coleauge got the 50000 limit & life time validity card. but i got only starter card. so iam requesting u people to cancel my card.
Today HSBC just totally ruined my day!! I went to draw money out of the cash machine to meet my mates for lunch but there was a fault with HSBC’s connection so I couldn’t withdraw any funds! Then I call the bank hold for 15 minutes and then the guy say’s you have to call back because his computer is down, he is apprantley unable to transfer me to a colleague who’s system is working! Tell me – how does the worlds richest bank have such a crap phone system? Then I call back again and hold for a further 20 minutes.
Anyway the system now shows that the money I wanted to draw out has actually come out, when it hasn’t and they have to launch an investigation. The end result is that I have no cash on me and cant meet my mates today liked planned! Thanks HSBC for ruining my day!
You are not the only one!! The exact same thing happened to me!! and the gits had the gall to go silent on me and then admit to not being able to give me any answers!! As a result I was unable to draw any money and even the chip and pin service was down..
it is horrific that such a sophisticated bank like HSBC that spends millions on advertising campaigns can’t have a system that works for their customers..
Oh I was also told to call back today when they might and only might have found out what was wrong!
Anyone else feel like moving banks? or are they all the same? Cruel world..
Yo Sharon!
I totally agree that how you were treated is simply appalling. Just remember you are the customer and they depend on your custom! The cheek of some people! Btw thanks for doing the veggie nibbles the other nite and im still trying to get mum to let me have one of your rabbits!!!! lol
I opened an HSBC online savings account because the interest rate is good.
But for an ONLINE ONLY account, they are doing incredibly stupid and antiquated things like sending 3 separate postal mails, each sent 4 days apart, with bits of log in information.
I understand the need for security, but come on now, no one else in the world works that way. So it has been one week, and it will be one more week before I can even access my account.
They’ve taken my money from my local bank, but when it will be credited to them and how much “float” they will earn using my case is a mystery.
This sort of internet ineptitude makes me wonder why they even tried to start an “internet only” account.
(A side note: one of their branch offices in Istanbul was bombed a few years back: at the time it was thought to be politically motivated. Now I am convinced that it was just a pissed-pff customer.)
O THANK I DONT BELIVE THAT I GOT A CHANCE TO SAY HAI, AND THANK TO ONE AND ONLY ONE PERSON FROM HSBC AND HIS NAME IS RAJ I MEAN HE IS A PUNJABI, I REALY HOPE HE IS FINE AFTER HIS OPP, I REALY WANT TO SAY THAT I THINK OF HIM ALL THE TIME AND WISH TO SEE HIM I REALY MISS HIM TOO MUCH , I HAVE NEVER FORGOT U , NOT A MOMENT EVEN AND I ALWAYS PRAY FOR U , HOPE U GET WELL SOON ,IF CAN PLS ANYONE GIVE HIM MY E- MAIL ADD OR LET HIM KNOW ABOUT THIS , COZ WHAT I KNOW THAT HE IS WORKING NIGHT SHIFT IN CYBERJAYA HSBC, IT WILL BE VERRY KIND , AND THANKS AGAIN , I WILL WAIT PLS I HOPE IT WILL BE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE ,THANK U AGAIN,BYE
What people do forget when slating big banks like HSBC is that behind all the technology and behind the huge profit, there are people like you and me. Now you and I both know that ultimately, we are only Human, and sometimes, we get things wrong. Mistakes can be made and ultimately fixed.
HSBC, like most financial institutions, has a complaints procedure which is regulated by the FSA. If you feel that something has gone wrong, the service you have received fallen short of that which you are entitled to expect or generally have a gripe you wish to raise then take it to the banks attention.
If you don’t raise your concerns – Nothing will change, the person who made a mistake will not know they have done so and continue doing it, your feedback isn’t noted and the bank runs along thinking everything is fine.
With reference to bank charges and the likes, clearly the OFT Jury is still out on the legality of them however, they can’t be more transparently laid out in the Terms and Conditions if they tried. Should you incurr a charge on your account once in a blue moon, it gets taken into consideration. Ultimately, when you are incurring charges its not going to be your best financial position at the time, but you know what. That’s life.
On a side note to the charges, I should point out that out of all the major UK banks – HSBC has the cheapest and fairest charging structure that I have encountered.
People need to take more ownership and care of their finances and stop just moaning and blaming banks for their debt. The financial industry does not hold a gun to your head and force you to buy a new car. Like most things in life – you make a choice.
Finally, the UK is one of the last countries in which you are given FREE banking. The majority of other countries charge a monthly tarriff simply for having a standard current account. I remember in Austraila many years ago I used to get charged per statemented transaction that debited my account alongside my monthly operating fee.
Customer Service is a wonderful thing when you get it. Like I said earlier though, if HSBC or anyone else lets you down the best thing you can do is sleep on it, put pen to paper the next morning and get your thoughts and concerns in writing to a head office customer relations department.
You never know, they might throw some money your way as a “Gesture of Goodwill”
Have fun.
This fucking bank is holding my money and I haven’t been able to access it for a week now. Some moron put a restraint on my account. When I call my branch they teel me to call the bank customer service and the bank customer service tells me to call my branch. I’ve spent about five hours on the phone this week with them and I still can’t use my account. The matter is still not resolved and it’s now the weekend. When I can withdraw my money I’m goin to another bank. Bunch of retards here!!!!! I’m so pissed. I can’t use my ddebit, I can’t write checks, can’t pay my bills that are automatically deducted from my checking!!!
I am a HSBC customer and have been for the last 8 years. I took out a Managed Loan 2 1/2 years ago as I had some money problems (like most people do). When going to the bank, in good faith, and meeting the manager I asked her for a straight-forward loan. She suggested the Managed Loan but reluctant to explain what it was. I, suffering from dyslexia and finding reading, writing, spelling an every day task in my life, took the Managed Loan. It wasnt to my knowledge til 2 years later when I noticed the loan wasn’t reducing a whole lot, I looked into the matter. The loan they had misled me to take I could clearly see this would take more time to pay off than what I intended. Now I am stuck with a loan that I can’t pay off for quite some time. HSBC had taken advantage of my disability and has stuck me in debt indefinitely. So I’d like to take this moment to thank HSBC for being so dishonest, nasty, misleading and downright cruel to a good customer.
If anyone has tips on how to get out of Managed Loans, I’d be more than grateful to hear from you. Please contact me: tris@fsmail.net
Thank you and good luck to everyone!
Well.. after starting to write my experiences today, I gave up in sheer frustration after typing for two hours and coming nowhere close to conveying my sheer annoyance.
All im going to say is that ASAP I will be changing to http://www.smile.co.uk or http://www.cahoot.co.uk as I hate HSBC. I hate all the other high street banks even more.
:’o(
HSBC are utter shite, in the space of a week they stopped my credit card as a ‘fraud prevention’ measure without telling me – my order would have been cancelled had I not picked up an email from the company I was buying from. Then they stopped by debit card as a ‘fraud prevention’ measure over a £36 transaction in Marks and Spencer! When I called Sri Lanka they didn’t have a clue why as it was ‘a sytem-generated’ thing. Can anyone recommend a halfway decent bank?
I hate HSBC. I just got off the phone to them and typed “I hate HSBC” into Google. I got to this page.
They dicked me about so much last year. All my problems with them stem from bad communication on their part, from messages not being passed on from one department to another, or from one branch to another. I just want to phone an individual branch, not someone in another country who doesn’t understand me. But I can’t.
I moved 250 miles across the country a few years ago and they won’t let me move my account-holding branch to my new home town, not without closing it, which funnily enough is what I’m going to do. So the jellyheads keep sending my stuff to the bank 250 miles away, despite my slow, carefully enunciated phone calls abroad to PLEASE SEND THINGS TO LONDON.
Every time I lose a card or need a replacement because mine is knackered, I want to shoot myself, because it means long, tortured phone calls and things being sent to the wrong end of the country.
I actually wrote a long, long letter to them last year listing all the ways in which they f*cked me off, including a wasted 500-mile round trip to collect some cards that weren’t there, and I got a letter of apology, and £100 of goodwill into my account. Try it. Go to the customer-complaints thing on the website, let rip and threaten to close your account. Sadly, I learned from this that being an angry, complaining pain in the ( x ) gets you somewhere in life.
My friends have recommended Smile to me as well. I’m moving over there.
“I just got off the phone to them and typed “I hate HSBC” into
Google. I got to this page.”
Me too!! :oD
I couldn’t agree more. Actually I worked for a division of HSBC 4 years ago and quit after 2 months. They treat customers like crap, don’t allow employees to help customers, and even screwed me out of my final paycheck. THEY ARE TERRIBLE!
I hate HSBC more than Hitler hated Jews! I’m from the states and I left on deployment for the navy and was told by 3 different HSBC douche bags that they would take money from my account for my car payment while I was gone for the 6 months. Needless to say I get back and I’m in a financial conundrum with months worth of missed payments and thousands in late fees. When I called to set the record straight the only help I got was “sorry sir, we gave you our website address.” That didn’t help at all because I didn’t have access to the internet, I didn’t have my cell phone, and you cant call a 1-800 number from a phone card. They are so GAY!! I feel like taking a chainsaw to the bank and fixing my account that way. I’ve got a JAG lawyer so hopefully I can somehow take them down! STUPID HSBC!!
I’m a current employee working in IT at HSBC. They issue me a corporae travel and expense card. They send me all over the country using this card, and I charged up 5500+ in expenses. They have not reimbursed me a cent since the travel in March. Now I’m stuck paying late fees and acrewing interest on their balance.
HSBC is stealing my home.
I was laid off in March 2006, I went back to work on June 1st making the same salary but this time with overtime. My wife made a payment as soon as we were able and they sent it back with the words “refused because your house is being foreclosed on” I contacted the smart a*S prick at the phone number 1-800-365-6730 extension 27533 Mike Yockum (probably not his real name) he told me that they were in the money business “da do ya think” and he could not help me. The next day I spoke to another dummy, he could not help me and finally he transferred me to his supervisor, who wanted $8,000 US when I owe less than $6,000 ok, I need some time to gather the money, he said You don’t have any time. I told the little bastard that I would file bankruptcy to protect my family, he said go ahead. I’m out of town, my wife has started the bankruptcy paperwork
hey..look at it this way, hsbc is one of the most trustworthy bank in the world. i work for the hsbc global service center here in manila, and imagine how much effort and hardwork we do just to provide with you full customer satisfaction. it’s not really the bank’s fault why you always forget your password, or locking your security over the phone because you are not listening very well to the IVR, it’s also not the bank’s fault why you get confused on whether your account is still open or not because you have already destroyed your card..FYI guys, your card doesnt have an antenna with it so we wouldnt know that you destroyed your card unless you inform us about that. call centers are located in different countries, and im telling you we undergo the same training, and discrimination of race is very rude, because HSBC respects all races, that’s why they are offering jobs even to 3rd world countries. and talking to a supervisor doesnt matter, all of the information a normal employee in a call center of hsbc knows all the proper way of handling them and supervisors have the same amount of knowledge as of an ordinary employee. think of it this way. what if your in our place?! i bet your going to pissed off when you have an irrate caller, imagine yourself as both a customer and a call center representative of hsbc. and in that way you’ll understand that it’s your security and satisfaction that we, hsbc, value the most.
you hsbc customers are nuts! you don’t know how to use your pin or your OWN security that YOU provided. Hsbc is not a charity, its a bank. you are those people who don’t know what’s the meaning of RESPONSIBILITY
you hsbc customers are nuts! you don’t know how to use your pin or your OWN security that YOU provided. Hsbc is not a charity, its a bank. you are those people who don’t know what’s the meaning of RESPONSIBILITY. make up your mind
“because HSBC respects all races, that’s why they are offering jobs even to 3rd world countries”
So its nothing to do with cheaper labour then?
Metal – Huh? What are you talking about?
HSBC IS THE WORST BANK I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH! I APPLIED FOR A CREDIT CARD, AND THEY CALLED ME TELLING ME I HAD BEEN ACCEPTED, BUT THEY JUST NEEDED SOME MORE INFO. I GAVE IT TO THEM, AND THEN THEY TOLD ME MY CARD WAS ON ITS WAY. THE NEXT THING I KNOW, I GET A LETTER SAYING I NEED A PAY STUB, SO I CALL THEM TO FIND OUT WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON, AND IM NOW BEING INVESTIGATED FOR FRAUD. NEEDLESS TO SAY, I CANCELED MY APPLICATION, AND NOW HAVE AN EVEN BETTER CARD FROM CITIBANK. HSBC – FULL OF LOOSERS.
talking about card-only customers who are always fool!
hsbc customers – fools and morons
I used to have a business account with them. I had goods waiting at the airport waiting to clear customs. I called my bank in order to transfer some money, but the operator in India couldn’t even get the amounts correct. I tried to call my branch but they had changed their numbers without informing me. I pay for this service. They were meant to call me back.
I ended up having to pay customs in cash. £5000 in £10 pound notes is not the kind of money you really want to be carrying around. I’ve had the same problem with my personal account. I’ve closed my business account and will be closing my personal account which I have had for over 18 years. HSBC MUST STAND FOR SOMETHING. Happy Sad Banking C*NTS.
HSBC “the world’s local bank” are about as useful as a concrete parachute. I have been trying to send sterling from China to the UK for over a month now and the best advice HSBC could give me was to “put it in the post”. These jokers rake in 9 billion a year, transact business all over the world and they can’t even help me do something that should take about 10 minutes. I even went to Hong Kong to try and send the money but HSBC in Hong Kong said that i couldn’t do it without opening an account! However, all the time that they’re been messing me around they’ve been charging interest to my credit card account. Thanks!
If anybody ever hass to send money from abroad to the UK then make sure its dollars and make sure that you use Western Union.
Tried to contact HSBC “your local bank”. I have dealt with a lot of banks before, but never one as useless as HSBC. Cannot contact any branch, just a central number & the person there had no idea what a BIC or SWIFt code was. btw – most other banks have this on their websites. HSBC sucks like no other
