The definition of comedy has changed throughout these years…in earlier years the comedies were more sensible and smart, there was no need to keep our brain at home.. the best examples would be old Golmaal, Chupke Chupke and few more in the same era..  but these days.. everything is stupid… I don’t know whether I should call lack of good directors / story writers or lack of sensible crowd..

The sad part is, these days, stupid films work… Golmaal, Partner, Welcome are some of the example and Golmaal Returns just adds up the list..

Okay, by any means, I do not mean to say that this movie was bad.. so before jumping to any conclusions, let me give you some idea about what movie is about..

The story is quite complicated and is not something which can be explained in few words.. but let me try…

The movie is based on the same characters as Part 1. (Except Sharman Joshi has been replaced by Shreyas Talpade) The character names are almost same but their roles have been changed.

Gopal (Ajay Devgan) who is married to Ekta (Kareena Kapoor). Ekta’s borther Lucky (Tushar Kapoor) is dumb and is in love with some Girl (sorry I have no idea about the name). Madhav (Arshad Varshi) who is in love with Gopal’s sister Esha (Amrtia Arora). Lakshman Prasad (Shreyas Talpade) is in love with Mira (Celina Jaitly).

Gopal works in a fishery company and sometimes gets home late… but his wife Ekta (who is fan of Ekta Kapoor serials) doubts him all the time. One day, Gopal reaches home late and the story takes off from there.

Ekta thinks Gopal was flirting with some girl and he spent whole night with her. Madhav the police inspector thinks Gopal is involved in the murder (murder of one of the employees of Gopal’s company) and Gopal is afraid of his wife, so he makes stories and in the ends, lands himself in the trouble.

The story sounds fun to watch, actually to some extent, it is funny but in many areas, the comedy very stupid.. it doesn’t even make you laugh.

In some parts, specially around end of the first half and somewhere in the middle of second half, I thought the movie was bit slow. Some of the scenes could have been chopped off.. e.g. the scene where Arshad Warsi inspects the murdered body.. a scene where Tushar Kapoor explains the whole thing to Arshad Warsi (when Arshad comes to his house.. Kareena, Amrita and Arshad – 1st half)

On the acting front, Tushar Kapoor is good in his role but sometimes, he goes over the board and becomes more like a noise pollution. Ajay Devgan was pretty good, no overacting. Kareena was pretty good, so were Shreyas Talpade and Arshad Warsi.. .

Amrita Arora and Celina Jaitly did not have much to do but they were good in whatever they did.. there some actress for Tushar Kapoor too.. she just had couple of scenes.. nothing great…

On the music front, I was lucky that there was only 1 song.. (which I managed to ignore)… direction was decent enough.. .like the way they showed the ending.. and the whole Ekta Kapoor thing..  Editing was kind of weak as mentioned earlier…

So overall, I would rate this movie [rating: 3/5] Giving it high rating just because it will be liked by people.. though it has no logic.. but decent comedy with no double meaning stuff. And apart from these things, people are badly waiting for some decent movie for quite sometime now..

On the box office front, I think it should do good business.
