Just returned from the movie. Was expecting some really good (after seeing the promotions of Rs. 5 lakh prize money for the person watching it alone). Thought there will be something really hardcore content which will not make people laugh but I guess.. Ramu’s 5 lakh is pretty easy win.. haha

Okay, the story time.. (Taken from the official site)

Rajeev, a successful Construction Engineer with loving wife, and two children aged 10 and 8, is an atheist to the core. He scoffs at God and even more at people who believed in the dark forces till one day when an evil was let loose in his happy home threatning to destroy his family and shake up the very foundations of his convictions and belief systems.

The movie started with some funny camera angles and annoying music and that kept repeating in the whole first half. Unnecessary sound effects and close up shoots of weird table pieces. (I still  could not understand they had kept the cordless phone on the table piece instead of on the charging base LOL) What I am trying to say is, focusing on monkey shaped table pieces simply does not help to create that “fear” in the mind of people. In the first half, everyone was laughing on those so called horror scenes. There were also few scenes added unnecessarily. (e.g. the one where their maid sees grandmother sitting in the hall – basically the scene right after that)

But 2nd half was really impressive, everything perfect. (Leaving few things aside) The people were actually quiet, the scenes were so powerful that no one dared to utter a single word. (Yea few of them did actually but you know some people have fun in that) The little kid Ahsaas Channa was pretty impressive. She was really brilliant in the 2nd half.

I really wish first half was as good as 2nd one. It looked like 1st half was directed by some sub standard director and 2nd half was handled by RGV himself.

Anyways, that’s a different story altogether.

So to sum it up, the movie was not so bad not so good, but it could have been made really well if they had taken care of the first half. I mean, if you can’t add fear in the mind of people then atleast don’t make them laugh, it’s supposed to be a horror movie.

On the acting front, I liked everyone.. yea.. Ashwini Kalsekar was really really really irritating in the first half. (Her laughter was more like someone screaming loudly in your ears and trying to kill you with that.. )

Direction, as I mentioned earlier.. in the first half it was really bad.. closeups doesn’t work always.  Music was surprisingly good, though the songs were nothing like you will remember but they were going well with the movie.

So overall, I would rate this movie [rating:2.5/5]. Watch it at your own risk.
