This is one of the few movies which made me leave the work and write about it. Okay, let me quickly come to the story part.
The movie is based on the real life story of Kiranjit Ahluwalia or we can say it is based on the book Circle of Light. It is about Kiranjit Ahluwalia (Aishwarya Rai), who kills her husband and faces imprisonment. But the court overlooks the reason behind the murder. The court overlooks the torture which she was facing for more than 10 years. The movie shows how Kiranjit gets justice and how her story affects the whole nation. (Some changes were made in the British law after this case)
The movie was no doubt depressing but it was all real. You could feel the pain of Kiranjit. I must say this will be one of the best performances of Aishwarya Rai, simply brilliant.
I would give this movie 4 / 5
Commercially I do not see this moving doing good business but it is a must watch. Again, it is very depressing but a very good movie.
The best part I liked in this movie was .. whn Aish is asked … “how do u feel in jail ?” … and she replies … “I feel free”.. tht part was just too good …. very strong dialogue… amazing ….
