So now finally I am on kickass Wordress 2.0
Just finished installing plugins and hacking sidebar.php file to get the stuff same as old version 🙂
Following plugins I am currently using on this blog
– BAStats
– Extended Live Archives
– Live Comment Preview
– Feedburner Feed Replacement
– RunPHP
– Google Sitemaps
– Subscribe To Comments
– WP-ContactForm
– wpLicense (Not working properly due to some javascript errors in the admin options)
– Akismet
Hey Is WP2 any better than Textpattern ?
I too have just installed it but basically thinks, It sucks…..where are the codings?
Its the same as what we gate by registering an account with WordPress…..Whats the difference in installing in my site?
Its a mere blogging software….with no flexiblity!
Hi Ashis,
Comparing WordPress with Textpattern would be wrong because both serve different purpose…WP is best for Blogging and Textpattern is more for making websites…you can call it as CMS…and it is totally flexible and fantastic software…
For blogs I would always prefer WordPress and for making websites TextPattern will be my all time favorite…
I know few people will say WordPress can be used as CMS too..I know it can be hacked apart and made CMS but I will still choose txp coz it simply rocks….
Texpattern is more for users with some patience to understand the software first and then enjoy the power of it…(that’s what I am enjoying 🙂 )
WordPress.com must be using hacked (modified) version of WP2 MU (Multi User) but it does not allow you to edit the file at system level…install the themes you want…install the plugins you want…modify the files you want…
Where WordPress hosted on your server allows you to do whatever you want because you have control over the files….
If wordpress did not have any flexibility then you wouldn’t have seen modifications on this site…I have modified the theme according to my needs, added google ads wherever I want…modified sidebar to get the things as I want…
So in short WordPress is the best for Blogging and TextPattern is best for sites (that’s what I personally feel)

Well comparison of both is strictly not possible and baseless. It is going around for a year now I think. I would any day use WordPress for blogs as also as CMS ( little bit of hack thats it 😉 ). Textpattern as Deep says takes a while to understand but results are amazing.
I have used TXP , WordPress and Joomla and I would prefer using WordPress , Joomla and then TXP if given a choice.
I am on WP2 since the 2nd day of my blogging 😀 I installed 1.5 and then on the next day 2 came out. So just went ahead and installed it. But I have heard there are some issues with WP2 that needs to be resolved very soon 🙁 Let see. I hope the bug fixes come soon.
Hmm…..Now people expect me to learn PHP to hack WP2 to modify it!
The comments are getting cut on the left hand side. Strangely admins comments are getting displayed in line but not the others.
oops here is the screenie

Shwetanshu and Raji – what error r u guys getting?
well.. I am using the same Extened Live Archives, but it shows in the simpler way

No, I havent done anything at all..just added the php code in my archive page to get ELA displayed….
This is what i added
< ?php af_ela_super_archive(); ?>
If you don’t mind then, let me have a look at it..send me your admin account details and I will check it…

Deep
i m not getting any error, just a blank page no heading or anything
here’s wat i have done:
i first copied the files in the plugins directory
then i made a template with the following txt :
and thn copied it to the place mentioned with file saved as blah.php
thn i created a new page with ELA as page template and added following lines:
after saving it, i configured the plugin’s options, and thn wen i clicked view page, it was blank and is still blank.here’ the link:

tel me if u still need my admin details
hmm… finally managed to get the original archive
as I am using the K2 theme, the ela.css was modified to look best in k2, changed the css to default one and everything is working fine now.
I love the archives page at my personal blog so changed the Preity’s Blog archive page 😀
Hi,
I guess this happens when you have set WordPress URI and Blog URI as different in WP Admin under Options (General), make sure both are same.
It had happened with me too and when I fixed that, everything started working fine.
Grace – Nice way to attract male readers on the blog 😉 Priety zinta pics are more than nice 😛
its same but the prob persists
well.. hehe…
i’ve customised it a lil bit to look more like a site 😛
Shwetanshu – I would suggest posting in their group in Flickr…
